Eula Mae Roussell passed away peacefully on May 22, surrounded by the love of her family after a life filled with faith, family, cooking, and caring for others.
Eula Mae was born on May 10th in Hathaway to Ida and Hubert Labove. She was a devoted wife, mother, mawmaw, sister, and friend who spent her life loving the people around her through home-cooked meals, laughter, and unwavering support. She was happiest when surrounded by family, whether at home in the kitchen, at livestock shows, or spending time outdoors caring for her animals.
She touched the hearts of many throughout the community through her cooking at local restaurants over the years, including Vegas Magic, Feed Trough, The Kree- Mee, and Priola's. Cooking was more than a talent to her it was how she showed love. No one ever left her home hungry, and she always had something cooking on the stove or snacks waiting for her grandchildren after school. She was known for her incredible gumbo, her coffee milk that somehow no one else could ever make the same, and the way she always called back later to ask how your meal turned out.
She loved spending time with family at livestock shows and especially enjoyed farrowing baby pigs with Dallas. She also had a special love for her goats and chickens and found joy in farm life and caring for her animals. She enjoyed playing bingo with Pearl and her friends at the Kinder Retirement.
More than anything, she loved her family deeply. Some of the most treasured memories shared with her were the simple moments sitting around her kitchen table talking, laughing, eating, and simply being together. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and unconditional love.
Eula Mae was preceded in death by her husband,Dallas Roussel; her parents Ida and Hubert Labove ; her favorite sister Pearl Mallett; her grandson Clay Roussel and numerous family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sandy (Allen) Oliver and Ricky (Crystal) Roussell ; grandchildren, Boo (Jodi) Oliver, Bradley (KC) Roussell, Kayra (James) Jennings, Megan and Brandon Roussell ; great-grandchildren, Colby and Cesilee Oliver, Chloe (Cort) McDonald, Ella and Kase Mhire, Harper Roussell, Brighton and Brian Jennings; great-great grandson Colter McDonald; siblings, Jane Castille and Louella Muller; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
Family will welcome friends for visitation at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on May 27th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on May 28th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at the Lacassine Cemetery.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones in Heaven, likely cooking a meal, watching her soap operas, and keeping an eye on all of us she loved so dearly. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
