Eveline Irene German passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the age of 88 years and ten months. She was a 60+ year resident in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on February 29, 1928 in El Dorado, AR, the seventh child of Louis Lee and Eva Lea Martin.
Irene was retired from South Central Bell (now AT&T) where she worked for 30 years. She then volunteered at Humana Women’s Hospital and continued her involvement with Pioneers, a service organization associated with South Central Bell employees. When not raising and caring for children, friends of children, and many dogs and cats, she very much enjoyed fishing. Games of Rummikub, UNO, Skip-Bo, and working jigsaw puzzles with her children and grandchildren were her delight. She loved Mexican food, margaritas, and chocolate!
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Leon German, Sr., her parents, two brothers, Lewis Martin and Claude Martin, and five sisters: Jessie Murphy, Leona Middlebrook, Thelma Hunt, Myrta Sipes, and Fay Ray.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Leon German, Jr. and his wife Alison McNally, Dr. Harvey Norman German and his wife Raejean Clark; two daughters, Phyliss Carroll German and Barbara Renée Wales and her husband Ross Amon Wales; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Services will be on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M., services to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel. A brief interment service will follow at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
