Evelyn Vivian Searcy, 83 of Lake Charles, LA was called Home on June 15, 2021 while in the comfort of her home.
She was born in Lake Charles, LA on September 15, 1937 to Ben and Mabel Leaggo.
She grew up in Lake Charles, attending St. Charles Academy. Growing up across the street from the skating rink brought her to meet a debonair airman by the name of Robert Searcy, it was love at first sight. They exchanged vows in June of 1956, and together they traveled to various duty stations; Puerto Rico, Arizona, California, and the Philippine Islands. Upon his retirement they returned stateside to Louisiana.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She never shied away from sharing what was on her mind, and she was well known for her blunt honesty. She loved laughter and often would play the role of the jokester to bring a smile to those she loved most.
She was very active throughout her life, she enjoyed playing Golf while in the Philippine Islands, or working in her shed painting or staining things, but nothing brought her more joy than working in her yard and garden.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Robert Searcy; and two sons, John D. Searcy and Michael B. Searcy.
Those left to cherish her memory and spirited words,”Don’t let them see you sweat”; two daughters, Vivian (Mike) Morein and Lisa K. Searcy; grandchildren, Jennifer N. Morein (Chris Sibley), Sarah (Eric) Bertrand, Stephanie (Stephen) Matte, and Anna M. Searcy (Stephen); great grandchildren, Austin Magehee, Bella M. Tilley, Sebastian Sibley, and Cheyenne; two sisters, Vivian “Dee Dee” (Art) Pardo and Barbara (Bob) Rolfes, and nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome friends at University Baptist Church on Monday, June 21, 2021, beginning at 11am until time of service. Funeral Services will begin at 2pm, and the family will host a private burial service at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.
