Fern Veuleman

Fern Dale Goos Veuleman, age 87, passed from this life on October 4. She was born April 20, 1938, to Patrick McCoy Goos, Sr. and Lena Bourque Goos. She was raised on the "Hill" on Goos Ferry Road in Moss Bluff. In July 1956 she married the love of her life, Donald Veuleman. They had one child, Kathy Veuleman Sullivan and a son-in-law they adored, Jody Sullivan.

Fern was a long-standing member of Eastwood Pentecostal Church. She was nurtured in her faith by the Ewing Pastors and especially Brother Murrell Ewing who not only loved her but her whole family.

She worked many years at Calcasieu Marine National Bank and retired from JP Morgan Chase. After her retirement she worked for Sam's Club, the Calcasieu Parish Registrar of Voter's Office and as a Commissioner for Elections in Calcasieu Parish.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Kathy Sullivan (Jody), grandchildren Lesley Miller (Kyle) and Donavan Sullivan (Jenna). Three great grandchildren, Lillian, Karson and Kipp Miller, with a great granddaughter, Kollins, on the way. She also leaves many other close family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings, Evelyn Goos Casey, Patrick "Bozo" Goos, Jr. and Frankie Goos.

The family would especially like to thank Donna Clark for being the best friend and neighbor they could have ever dreamed about for their mom/granny. They would also like to express their appreciation to the administration and staff of Calcasieu Community Care Center and the staff at Harbor Hospice for the excellent compassion and care they gave their mom/granny during the last few months.

The services will be at Eastwood Pentecostal Church, 2501 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, LA on Monday, October 6. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Goos Cemetery, Joe Miller Road in Moss Bluff. Reverend Aaron Lopez will conduct the funeral service. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson's Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
