Floella Marie Thibodeaux Ellender, age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Flo was born on October 18, 1942, to Lula Richard Thibodeaux and Charley Thibodeaux. She was a devoted woman of faith who loved the Lord and her church dearly. Flo cherished time spent with her family and found joy in sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She also enjoyed bingo and cooking. Flo retired after many years of dedicated service at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Tammy Ellender Hawn and husband Darren, Kathy Ellender Yellott and companion Jody Angelle, Debbie Ellender Savant, and Eric Wayne Ellender and wife Tammie; grandchildren: Chad Yellott, Michelle Guidry, Nichole Hawn, Michael Paul Guidry, Justin Hawn, and Krystal Cutting; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Raymond Thibodeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Lula Richard Thibodeaux; her husband, Willie Ellender; and her siblings, Hazel Gatlin, Hilda Thomason, Mabel Doucet, James Thibodeaux, Harvey Thibodeaux, Gifford Thibodeaux and Filton Thibodeaux.
A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, with Father Edward Richard officiating.
Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur on Wednesday, January 7, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Farquhar Cemetery.
