Floyd M. "Buddy" Ellis

Floyd M. “Buddy” Ellis, 92, passed away at his home in Westlake, Louisiana on November 14, 2020, surrounded by his family. 

Floyd was born in Rankin, Texas on December 5, 1927 to Marion and Floyd M. Ellis.  He grew up in Wink, Texas and played football for the Wink Wildcats.  After graduation he joined the U. S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II.  He later attended North Texas State University in Denton, Texas.  After 40+ years with Continental Oil Company, he retired in Westlake with his wife, Velma, who preceded him in death in 2017. 

He is survived by two brothers, Ed and Bill Ellis, his daughters Lynne and Susan Ellis, sons Scott and David Ellis, Michael, Daryl, and Jonathan Richard, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

Floyd was a very kind soul who loved his family.  He enjoyed reading and sharing books with neighbors, fishing with family and friends, and coaching little league football and baseball.  His was a life well-lived, and he was a blessing to those who knew and loved him.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
