Frank Carl Phillips, 83, of Sulphur, LA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was born on October 7, 1941, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Charley and Ethyle Phillips.
Frank was a man of deep and steadfast faith, whose life was marked by kindness, humility, and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He treasured life’s moments—both big and small—and especially loved traveling with his beloved wife, Glenda. Together, they made countless cherished memories on family vacations, including many trips to the mountains, where Frank found peace in the quiet beauty of nature.
He delighted in cheering on his children and grandchildren at school activities and sporting events, always a steady presence in the stands with a smile full of pride. Whether it was a championship game or a casual weekend match, Frank was there, rooting for the people he loved most.
He was a faithful member of Houston River Baptist Church, where he was known for his servant’s heart and a smile that could light up any room. He retired from W.R. Grace as an operator but remained active, often spending time in his shop, where he found joy in tinkering, building, and working on his latest project.
Those left to carry on his legacy include his devoted wife of 61 years, Glenda Morgan Phillips; his four children: Stacey Regan and husband Joshua, Todd Phillips, Scott Phillips and wife Aquilla, and Shelly Tanous and husband Damon; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his siblings, William “Winkey” Phillips and wife Hazel, and Helen Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Dorothy Williams, Rachel Kuiken, Ruby Marshall, Barbara Denman
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Houston River Baptist Church. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:30 AM until the time of service, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Pastor Lonnie Gothrup will officiate.
