Fred Gordon Denison

Fred Gordon Denison, born May 2, 1942, son of the late Gordon Earl and Annabelle (Hebert) Denison, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 80.

Fred, a graduate of Louisiana State University with a BS in Ag Business, enjoyed working cattle, farming, rodeoing, hunting, and being with family. He loved his family, God, people, and his community. As a servant leader he mentored and coached many others, and he was a true role model. Fred made substantial contributions to farming, ranching, rodeo, 4-H, and sports in Southwest Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Joshua Cormier.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Augustine) Denison; daughters, Cathy Denison-Robert (Rev. Jody), Carrie Savoy (Kevin), Carla Denison, Carmen Denison, Christi Fontenot (Michael), and Charlotte Adney (Bill); sister, Sharon Broussard (John “Gumbo”); grandchildren, Devin Wicke, Jeremy Robert, Lexi Savoy, Lance Savoy (Kirsti), Cyle Denison (Christeena Register Denison), Kaylee Fontenot, Traci Fontenot, Brett Fontenot, Gabriel Adney, Zachary Adney, and Jason Adney; great-great grandchildren, Myles, Leighton, Halle, Hagen, Kase, Madden, and Henley.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton, LA. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Thursday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life. Visitation will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
