Freida Mae Murphy

Freida Mae Murphy, 78, of Lake Charles died at 12:30 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in her residence.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Big Lake on May 14, 1933. She was a member of Prien Lake Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 40 years, Eddie J. Murphy of Lake Charles; two daughters, Rosie Williams of Jennings and Barbara Brown of Lake Charles; two sons, Cleveland Newman of Broaddus, TX and Michael Newman of Sulphur; two sisters, Gladys Bourque of Lake Charles and Dorothy Trumps of Sulphur; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Fred Matthews; and two brothers, Fred and Elbert "E.J." Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
