Garry Alden Roach, 56, of Lake Charles, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence.
He was a native and life resident of Lake Charles and was a graduate of Barbe High School. He attended McNeese State University. Garry worked as a Supervisor in the Piping Trade most of his life, and his expertise was recognized by his peers.
Survivors include his daughter, Victoria Adair Roach, and Fiancé, Caleb Daugherty, his son, Garrett Alden Roach, both of Lake Charles; mother, Dorothy Cormie Roach, of Lake Charles; three brothers, Harry Allen Roach of New Orleans, Larry Arlen Roach, Jr. and wife Leslie, Barry Alwin Roach and wife Patrice, and his sister, Kathryn Kay Roach, all of Lake Charles; the mother of his children, Teresa K. Roach, of Lake Charles; Nieces, Nicole Alyse Roach, Lauren Anne Roach, Linsey Aileen Roach, and Brooke Alyce Roach; and Nephews, Harry Adam Roach, Larry A. Roach III, and Lawson Paul McKee. He is preceded in death by his father Larry Arlen Roach, Sr, and his grandparents, Harry Allen Roach, Mathilda Benton Roach, Joseph Adam Cormie and Sarah Welch Cormie.
Garry will be most remembered for his smile that would light the room, his jovial demeanor that made everyone he met his friend, and his kind and loving heart that he gladly shared with others. He was a loving father. He loved his family and friends in his own special way and they loved him back. Garry loved the country life, raising horses, cattle and other livestock, and being a cowboy. He was a Little Britches and High School Rodeo champion. He enjoyed taking his daughter, Victoria, and son, Garrett, to rodeos where he cherished seeing Victoria compete. He loved hunting and fishing with family and friends, especially his brothers, and teaching his son, Garrett, about the outdoors with sporting activites such as going crabbing, or bringing him to scout flocks of geese. He was a dancer and loved to dance, and was known to dance from the time the music started until it stopped. He loved playing pool in his weekly pool league and did his best to never miss. Garry chose to live a simple life, and lived his life enjoying life's simple pleasures.
His Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor James Gaddy and Reverend John Robert Black will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM, and continue from 10:00 AM until time of services, Wednesday, in the funeral home.
Those desiring to make a charitable contribution in Garry's memory in lieu of flowers may do so to with the Landry House home for autistic adults for the benefit of Garrett Roach, and Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana, 3006 Common St., Lake Charles, LA 70601 or the local NAMI chapter.
