Genevieve Rahbany, 95, peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on May 1, 2026, in Houston, Texas where she had resided for the past six years. Born on March 30, 1931, in Jdita, Lebanon to Toufeek and Phalaxa Saba, Genevieve lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, compassion, and deep love for her family and community. She was a longtime member of Christian World in Lake Charles and later attended Grace Church in Clear Lake, Texas.
Genevieve embodied what it truly meant to live a Christ-centered life. She carried peace wherever she went and made everyone she encountered feel like family. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always ready to serve others. Whether through her prayers, her wisdom, or simply her comforting presence, Genevieve mentored and encouraged countless people to grow closer to Christ and live with kindness, humility, and love.
In January 1951, at just 21 years old, Genevieve courageously immigrated from Lebanon to the United States with her seven-month-old son, Michael, joining her husband, Edmond, and their daughter, Badiha, who had arrived nearly a year earlier. Together they built a beautiful life in Lake Charles, surrounded by family, including the Khourys, Rahbanys, and Nagems.
Genevieve was known for her incredible work ethic and the talents she carried in her hands. She could sew, cook, cut, and style hair, and create beauty in everything she touched. She was especially beloved for preparing the most amazing Lebanese meals, meals that brought people together, comforted hearts, and created lifelong memories around her table. Serving others was never an obligation to her, it was one of the purest expressions of her love.
Above all, Genevieve treasured her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, resilience, and unconditional love that will continue through generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmond Rahbany, and their son, Michael Rahbany.
She is survived by her children, Badiha Nassar and husband John, George Rahbany, and Nour Daugherty; her grandchildren, Natalie Nassar Kaplun and husband Bryan, Kristen Rahbany Saile and husband Zach, Jared Daugherty, Justin Daugherty, James Edmond Rahbany and wife Heather, and Steven Rahbany; and her great-grandchildren, Asher and Micah Rahbany, Olive Kaplun, and Avery Saile. She is also survived by her sisters, Amal, and Jacqueline, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews in Lebanon.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2026 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake Street, with Pastors, Jerry, and Hope Snider officiating. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and will resume on Thursday at 10:00 AM, continuing until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Genevieve’s memory to Christian World, 2001 E. Gauthier Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70607, or to the Lebanon Relief Fund c/o Badiha Nassar, 1911 Orchard Country Lane, Houston, TX 77062, with checks made payable to Badiha Nassar.
