George Ann Morrow Benoit

November 16, 1938 — January 23, 2017

George Ann Morrow Benoit, 78, of Lake Charles passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 in her residence.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at University United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Dewitt will officiate. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service on Friday at the church.


Mrs. Benoit was born on November 16, 1938, in Crossett, AR. Her husband, Robert Coulson Benoit, and her parents, W.D. and Rilla Morrow, preceded her in death.


A charter member of University United Methodist Church, she sang in the Chancel Choir. Mrs. Benoit was a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army and made 300 pottery bowls for the Salvation Army’s first Empty Bowl fund-raiser. She also worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board.


Survivors include three sons, John R. Benoit and wife Linda of Indianola, IA; David W. Benoit and wife Barbara of Huntsville, AR.; and Matthew S. Benoit of Houma, LA; four grandchildren, Scarlet Benoit of Rogers, AR, William Benoit of Huntsville, AR; Terez Benoit and Jacques Benoit, both of Houma, LA; two step-grandchildren, Avari Tune of Pearl River, LA and Elliot Tune of Fayetteville, AR; and three step-great grandchildren, Clairese, Alaric, and Caelestis. Other survivors are one sister, Melinda Ridenhour of Rowlett, TX, and one brother, Bill Morrow of Cumming, GA.
