George Wilson Meche, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:37 PM on Sunday, May 10, 2026 in his residence
Born in Church Point and raised in Sulphur, he was a proud graduate of Sulphur High School. He began his career in the parts department at Wilson Motors, where he built lasting friendships and a reputation for hard work and dedication.
For ten years, he left Lake Charles to work in the oil industry, traveling throughout the Rocky Mountains and embracing the adventure of the open road. Eventually, he returned home to Lake Charles and rejoined Wilson Motors, where he remained until his retirement.
In his earlier years, he also served his community as a commissioned sheriff's deputy. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. He was always a giving man, remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jackie Meche; daughters, Michelle Savoy, Melissa Tozer (Sam), and Angela Camel (Kevin); grandchildren, Tyler Savoy, Ryleigh Munster, Tim Smith, Christina Keeran, Mitchell Kemp, Ashley Dinkel, and Whitney Libal; thirteen great grandchildren; and his furry companion, Bella Cupcake.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lenny Meche; his parents, Cyprien and Louise Meche; and siblings, Francis "Blackie" Meche and Mildred Vincent.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the start of the service. A private inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
