Georgianna Forestier

Antoinette Georgianna Meche Forestier, 82, died Friday, June 1, 2018, in Groves, Texas in a care facility.

Born in Church Point, Louisiana to Edgar and Onelia Thibodeaux Meche, Mrs. Forestier lived in Church Point until she married her husband in 1961. Together they lived in various locations until settling in the Indian Bayou area. Mrs. Forestier was a homemaker and took great joy in making a home for her husband and son. Widowed at a young age, she moved to Lake Charles with her son in 1977. She attended St. Margaret Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and sharing a cup of coffee with them was even better. In the mid ‘90’s, she moved to the Groves, Texas area to be closer to her sisters. She also enjoyed traveling to visit family, listening to music and animals, especially the family dogs.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Edward Forestier, Jr. and wife Amber of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one grandchild, Alexander Forestier; one brother, Allen Meche of Lake Charles; and two sisters, Mary Thibodeaux and Clophina Cormier, both of Port Neches, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward C. Forestier.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Vijaya Peddoju will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Mire Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Mire, Louisiana. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:30 until 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m., and will resume at 9 a.m. on Monday until service time.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the exceptional, compassionate care given their beloved mother to the nurses and staff of Magnolia Manor in Groves, Texas.
