Gerald James Manuel, 67, of Moss Bluff passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in his daughter's residence in Destrehan, LA. Mr. Manuel was born on August 26, 1948 in Lake Charles where he lived all of his life. He attended Marion High School before joining the US Navy and serving during the Vietnam War. He formerly owned and operated Manuel's Sandblasting and Painting. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He will be remembered for his cooking skills. Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Christine Manuel Kibodeaux (Shean) of Destrehan, LA; his former wife, Mary Manuel of Destrehan, LA; a step daughter, Pam Lashley of Ruston, LA; a step son, Michael Guillory (Marie) of Harrison, AR; two brothers, Harold and Rickey Manuel both of Moss Bluff; a sister, Gwen Smith of Moss Bluff; an aunt, Lou Fontenot of Moss Bluff; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellister and Houston Manuel and a brother, Larry Manuel. A rosary and memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 4:00 PM and continue following the service until 7:00 PM.
