Gerald "Wayne" Hollier

October 3, 1951 — September 18, 2015

Gerald “Wayne” Hollier, born October 3, 1951, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, September 18, 2015, unexpectedly with his wife and sister by his side. The owner of Hollier’s Cajun Kitchen and Hollier’s Diner, Wayne was a self-made, highly successful, well respected Sulphur businessman for well over 35 years. Wayne was the 2nd son born to Myrtle and Emick Hollier. Wayne has always professed as being a home grown “Portie Town” Sulphur boy. He attended DS Perkins, WW Lewis Junior High and graduated from Sulphur High. He held various jobs but nothing ever satisfied his desire like becoming his own boss, opening and operating a Boudin/Sausage and Meat Market. After nine and a half years of working for Firestone Refinery, he left his steady, secure 40 hours a week job for an 80-100 hour job with his first business, Boudin Kitchen, located on Highway 90. It wasn’t just Wayne embarking on this dream of a lifetime…he involved his entire family. Early hours of every day except Sunday, you’d find him arriving before the sun rose until well after it set each evening. His business from its first early days in 1980 wasn’t just any business, it was a family business. Wayne’s great love for the outdoors brought him many hours of peace and joy! Wayne’s other love was Antique classic cars and his dream became a reality when he purchased a 1957 Chevrolet Belair. He entered several Car Shows and has won numerous awards during the past years. Hollier’s Cajun Kitchen has been recognized as the Best Restaurant in SWLA by various magazines. Creating “Big Meat Wednesday” has become well known in the area and the only place to be for lunch on Wednesdays. Wayne was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3015 and attended Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marie Thibodeaux Hollier; his son Michael Wayne Hollier and wife Tina, his daughter Jennifer Marie Vincent and her husband Pop; his grandchildren, Blake and Lenzi Lawson, Elijah LeJeune, Hunter Hollier, Jamie Vincent and Grayson Vincent; his sister and brother, Juanita Hollier Richard and husband Jimmy and TJ Andrus and wife Linda; other family members include, Ivy Paul Thibodeaux and wife Mary Dale, Beverly Thibodeaux Corbello and husband Larry, Glenda Thibodeaux Mallet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emick and Myrtle Hollier; his sister, Genevia Guidry; his nephew Keith Andrus; his niece Cyndi Richard Pratt; his niece Angela Marie Thibodeaux Stark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 3 P.M. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Andrews Kollannoor, M.S. officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery North in Sulphur under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 4-9 P.M. with a Cursillo Rosary at 7 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the funeral home from 9 A.M. until time of leaving for the church. Pall Bearers will be Ray Doucette, Bill LeBlanc, Carl Hardy, Jim Jones and James LeBoeuf. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff of WCCH and especially Dr. Maureen Lannan for the care and compassion they gave him. IN GOD WE TRUST
