Geraldine R. Deshotel, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 9, 1940, in Eunice, Louisiana, Geraldine lived a life rich in love, laughter, and the warmth of family.

She was the cherished daughter of Louis Roy Sr. and Alma Roy, who instilled in her the values of Faith, hard work, kindness, and community. Geraldine was preceded in death by her siblings, Theresa Jones, Donald Roy, and Louis Roy Jr., whose memories she carried with her throughout her life.

Geraldine's journey through life was defined by her deep commitment to her family and her work. In her younger years, she began her career at Meche's Upholstery, where her creativity and dedication shone brightly. She then spent many fulfilling years at Western Play School, nurturing and educating young minds. For a brief period, she lent her talents to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department, showcasing her unwavering commitment to her community.

Geraldine leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy. She is survived by her sister, Carol Hanna, and her children: Richard and Jan Meche, and Lisa and Richard Mancil. Her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, Crystal and her husband Jeremy Johnston, Leigh Anne and her husband Chris Miller, Candace and her husband Aaron Aubry, Jordan and Allison Meche, Gage and Katherine Meche.

Geraldine's spirit was a beacon of love and resilience. Her home was a gathering place for family and friends, filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of her delicious cooking. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and cherished. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared.

A funeral service to celebrate Geraldine's life will be held on May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Johnson and Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after the service until 3 p.m. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor her remarkable life and the impact she made on all who knew her.

Geraldine R. Deshotel will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the vibrant spirit she brought to our lives. May she rest in peace. A special thanks to the Hospice Care team, Jessica and Caitlyn.
