Geraldine "Geri" Mathieux
June 22, 1935 — December 2, 2018
Geraldine “Geri” Mathieux, born in Kinder on June 22, 1935, daughter of the late Alam and Mazie Manuel, passed away Sunday, December 02, 2018 in a local assisted living facility, at the age of 83.
Geri was a native of Kinder and spent most of her life in Lake Charles and Iowa, LA. She graduated from Kinder High and MTDA Secretarial School and retired from the Lake Charles Police Dept. with 17 years of service. Geri was a member of the Cajun Caravan Camping Club and loved playing cards.
Geri is survived by her daughter, Trudy Guillory (Margot) of Broussard, LA; daughter-in law, Sheila Guillory of Iowa, LA; grandchildren, Jason Guillory (Ashley), Sarah McFarlain (Joe); great-grandchildren, Donavin Guillory, Jaley Guillory, Rylee McFarlain; step-children, Sheila Mace and Olivia Miller (Greg) of Geneva, FL; David Mathieux (Teri) of Geneva, FL, Dan Mathieux (Marcia) of Denver, Co, Stan Mathieux of Geneva, FL, Ollie Mathieux (Marie), of Castleberry, FL. Also surviving Geri are her sister-in-law, Bonnie Boudreaux (Clayton), and brother-in-law, Donald Mathieux (Mary Lou) of West Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Oliver R. “Matt” Mathieux; sons, Randy and Joel “Joey” Guillory.
Funeral services are Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa at 10 a.m. with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Elton. Visitation is Monday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and resumes Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff of Villa Maria and Heart of Hospice for providing compassionate care in her last years.
