Lake Charles - Geraldine “Jeri” Rhodes Moore Guidry, born on January 17, 1939, daughter of the late Herbert P. Rhodes, Sr. and Laura Molly Paul Rhodes, passed away in Jennings American Legion on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the age of 82.
After losing her husband, she fulfilled her life-long dream to become a nurse in 1974. She went on to work for St. Patrick Hospital and later became Dr. Floyd Guidry’s nurse. Later, Jeri worked for the CPPJ using her knowledge to implement the TIPP program at several schools in the parish. Jeri was involved in her children’s lives as Blue Bird, Camp Fire and Cub Scout leader. She loved caring for others by sending cards and letters to everyone she knew. She loved painting, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jeri is survived by her children, Carroll J. Moore, Jr.; Paul A. Moore; Elizabeth “Beth” Moore Guidry (Ricky); Michael D. Moore and Patrick S. C. Moore, Sr. (Lucy); grandchildren, Cody Guidry (Torrey); John Warner (Sarah); Jessica Moore Moye (Chris); Ashley Guidry Travis (Clay); Cassie Bellard (Chris); Nadia Choates; Alyse Guidry; Alexandra Moore Jennings (D’Mark); Gabrielle Moore; Patrick S. C. Moore, Jr., Natasha Moore; great-grandchildren, Lily; Ayla; Asher; Cohen; Olivia; Hannah; Charlie; Scarlet; Tobie; Gianna; Isaiah; Madison; Marilyn; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband’s, Carroll “Joe” J. Moore, Sr.; Downey D. Guidry; brother, Herbert “Sonny” P. Rhodes, Jr.
Funeral services are Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation begins Wednesday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The family has requested that no food be brought to the funeral home and facial coverings be worn.
