Gladys May Monk

Gladys May Monk, 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in her residence surrounded by her loving daughters. Gladys was born on January 15, 1930 to John and Clara Hanson in Everett, Washington.

Gladys moved to Lake Charles in 1951. Motivated by her love for children she worked for many years with the Mother’s Day Out Ministry at Trinity Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Laura J. Monk and her son, William D. Monk.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Catherine Ann Nunez of Ragley, and Susan Connor of Lake Charles; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with her sister, Mary Brown of Bremerton, WA.

The family will receive guests in the mausoleum of Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles at 9:00AM on Friday, March 10, 2017. A graveside service will follow at 10:00AM conducted by Dr. Wayne Dartez. Services are under the guidance of Johnson Funeral Home.
