Gladys Miller Hill

Gladys Miller Hill, 94, of Lake Charles passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in her residence. Mrs. Hill was born on June 3, 1921 in Hathaway, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1962. She retired from Kroger on Twelfth Street in 1986. Following her husband's death due to a plane crash in 1960 while serving in the U.S. Air Force, she was a wonderful, hard working, single mother who raised her children well. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Brownie Marie Fontenot of Pasadena, TX; two sons, William Robert "Bobby" Hill also known as "Sarge" of Lake Charles and Charles Wayne Hill also known as "Gator" of Livingston, TX; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Robert Hill; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. Family wishes are that all that attend visitation and services are dressed in casual attire.
