Glen”Nobel” Akins, 66, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 in the comfort of his home. Glen’s hobbies were working out, running, playing chess and shooting pool. He taught self defense classes. Glen loved playing pranks with his nieces and nephews. He loved kids and loved pets. Glen served his country proudly for 8 years in the United States Marine Corp.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cynthia Sonnier Akins; his 4 legged child, Jaspar; two sisters, Gail Robinson and husband Ken of Bastrop and Olene Terro and her companion, David of Sulphur; one brother, David Robinson of North Carolina; five nieces; 9 nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; his mother in law, Pearl Sonnier; two brothers in law, Dennis Sonnier and his wife Liz and Phil Sonnier; and two sisters in law, Roxanne and Terry Duhon and Wanda and Brad Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Akins and Mary Young and his father in law, A.D. Sonnier.
Services for Glen will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 7 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 4-9 PM. Cremation will follow.
