Gloria Elaine Moreno

March 20, 1951 — May 31, 2021

Gloria Elaine Hermann Moreno, 70, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Moreno was born March 20, 1951, to Frederic Haas Hermann and Shirley Francis Hermann in St. John's, Newfoundland.  After moving with her father’s military career to Massachusetts and California, Louisiana finally became home.  She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School.  She worked her younger years, sharing her talent and creativity as a Cake Decorator and Instructor for Wilton at JC Penney and a Calligraphy Instructor for the Summer Arts Series at McNeese State University.  She was amongst the most sought-after decorator of her family, friends and community for special events, as well as Calligrapher for countless wedding invitations.  She worked alongside her father as the Secretary for MADD in memory of her brother.   Mrs. Moreno later enjoyed working alongside her husband in their business of graphics and embroidery design and promotional sales.  She was a truly gifted and creative mind, even when her abilities were challenged, she found a new way.  She shared something of her gift with each child and grandchild to carry on to new generations.  Her greatest joy was being a mother, following her children and their friends to sporting events, dance events and school functions.  She later learned that being a grandmother was even better, spoiling and spending as much time with them as possible.  She will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her true genuine spirit and positive influence, and as the mother all approached for support and guidance.

She leaves her husband and best friend, Marc Anthony Moreno of Lake Charles; four children, Chadwick Abel “Chad” Moreno (Kim) and Jared Ethan Moreno (Lova), both of Lake Charles, Amanda Grace Payne (Bryckton) of Denver, CO and Erin Elise Issac (Sabine) of Frisco, TX; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harold Hermann (Sheila), Dennis Hermann (Dana), Robert “Bobby” Herman (Jan) and Frederic “Freddie” Hermann (Teresa), all of Lake Charles; two sisters, Peggy Ward (Hal) and Stephanie Kingsley (Tony), both of Lake Charles and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard “Ritchie” Hermann.

In respect of her wishes, Mrs. Moreno’s family will gather privately for Memorial Services.  A gathering of family and friends in her honor will be held at a later date.
