Gloria Galloway

June 26, 1938 — August 18, 2025

Gloria Lorraine Havard Galloway, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Charles on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on June 26, 1938, to Malcolm and Ella Lambright Havard, Gloria grew up with a lively spirit and a joy for life that never left her. She graduated from Sulphur High School and went on to work as an Operator for South Central Bell/Bellsouth, where she retired after 25 years of faithful service. Dedicated and hard-working, Gloria earned numerous awards during her career and was admired by colleagues and customers alike.

Gloria’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She and Thomas “Tom” Galloway shared a remarkable 68 years of marriage, a love story that began with a blind date arranged by a friend. At the time, Tom was stationed at Lake Charles Air Force Base (now Chennault), and from that moment forward, they built a life rich with love and laughter. One of Gloria’s fondest memories was Tom’s safe return from his service in Greenland in 1960, a reunion she carried in her heart forever.

A woman of steadfast faith, Gloria and Tom were devoted members of University Baptist Church and later Sale Street Baptist Church. They lived out their faith through service, often volunteering together. Gloria especially loved caring for the elderly, bringing comfort and companionship with her bubbly personality and joyful spirit. Her faith was the steady center of her life, shaping the way she lived, and loved her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Tom; her son, Steven Galloway and wife Deidre; her grandchildren, Megan Jarrell and husband Derek, Lance Galloway and wife Nikki, and Stephanie Galloway; her great-grandchildren, Macie, Hayes, Natalie, Adalyn, Gage, Marit, and Mathew; her brother, Gary Havard; and her sister, Marion Aguillard. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents and her son, Jeffrey Galloway.

A funeral service in honor of Gloria’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, with Pastor Johnny Dammon officiating. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be observed on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the service begins.

The family would like to give special thanks to Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care.

Please consider making a memorial donation to The First Baptist Church of Lake Charles Building Fund.
