Gordon was born on November 19, 1932 in LeBleu to the late Hiram Augustus and Mable (Breaux) Morgan. He was a graduate of Iowa High School and joined the United States Army after graduation where he was a Sergeant and was involved in the Korean War, 3rd Division. He was employed as a telephone technician with South Central Bell for 30 years and was a member of the Pioneer Club. Gordon enjoyed fishing, duck & deer hunting. He was a Little League baseball coach and a Boy Scout leader and was involved in the Future Farmers of America and the 4 H club.
Survivors include his daughter, Catherine Morgan of Iowa; brother, Charles W. Morgan and wife, Pat of Westlake; sister, Betty Brashear and husband, Thomas of Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Jed, Jeannie, Neil and Sunny; and 3 great grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel and Shailee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine J. Shangrow Morgan; son, Michael Morgan and step-son, David B. Swanson.
