Gregory Troy Fontenot

Gregory Troy Fontenot, 62, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away Monday, July 21st, 2025. Troy was born December 9th, 1962 to father, J. Roderick and mother, Frances Fruge Fontenot of Ville Platte.

Troy was a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and cook. A perfect day for Troy would have been a morning hunt followed by cooking a sauce while watching LSU football in the afternoon. The fondest memories he leaves behind are of fishing trips to Toledo Bend with his son and fishing buddies. Troy had a wonderful sense of humor and his laugh will be remembered by all those who experienced it.

He was a devoted employee and spent his career as an aircraft mechanic working diligently to keep helicopters and airplanes in the sky. When his time for turning wrenches ended, he would spend his later years teaching new generations to do the same at Sowela Technical Community College which he took great pride in.

Troy’s memory will be carried by his father; his son, Billy Fontenot and wife Ashley and one grandchild, Emmeline; his brother, Todd Fontenot and wife Michelle and their children Gary, Abby and Ally; his aunts, Anetta Fontenot, Brenda F. Guillory, Godmother JaMaine F. Amy; and his first wife and mother of his child, Kimberly Fontenot.

Troy was preceded in death by his mother; paternal grandparents, Nelson and Leila T. Fontenot; maternal grandparents, Voorhise and Marie B. Fruge; uncles, Woodrow and Revinal Fontenot and Ray and Adam (A.V.) Fruge.

A memorial will be held in Ville Platte, LA at a later date.
