Harold James Benoit, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026. He was born on August 4, 1933, in Welsh, Louisiana, to Lena Marie Bellard and Lester Pierre Benoit.
Harold retired as a supervisor from Bordens in 1995 after 40 years of dedicated service. He also worked at the Port of Lake Charles and owned Harold's Tractor Service, turning his love for yard work into a successful business. Harold was known for his incredible work ethic and took great pride in maintaining beautiful lawns and gardens.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially duck and goose hunting with his boys and going on trail rides. Affectionately known as "Paw Paw Boat," "Paw Paw," and "Big Pops," Harold's greatest joy was his family. He cherished hosting gatherings at his home, whether it was backyard barbecues, crawfish boils, or holiday celebrations, always making sure everyone felt welcome. He was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and lived his faith faithfully throughout his life. A man of remarkable strength and determination, he courageously battled and defeated cancer three times, inspiring those around him with his resilience and unwavering spirit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Denise Benoit Stillings (Mike), Gerald Benoit (Cindy), and Phillip Benoit (Amber); grandchildren, Heather Fontenot (Dale), Michael Jade Stillings, Michael David "Mikey" Stillings, Jeremy James Benoit (Amanda), Daniel Benoit (Erika), Ashley Benoit, and Brittany Benoit; great-grandchildren, Jami, Greysen, Anniston, Lauren, Katherine, Londyn, and Braxton; brother, Rene "Butch" Benoit (Linda); sisters, Irma Fruge, Raenella McReary, Faye Broussard (Nolan), and Katherine Marcantel; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Ann David Benoit; his parents, Lena Marie Bellard and Lester Pierre Benoit; and his granddaughters, Nicole Benoit and Payton Cochran.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jade Stillings, Greysen Stillings, Jeremy Benoit, Daniel Benoit, Dave Fontenot, and Mike Guzman.
