Harold Eugene "Gene" Nehls Jr.

Harold Eugene "Gene" Nehls Jr. passed away on March 6, 2025. Gene was born on April 3rd, 1960, to Harold E. Nehls Sr. and Shirley E. Nehls.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, known for his humor, his playful spirit, and connection with his family. Gene was a man of many passions and interests. In his younger years, he played sports and grew an affinity for making and fixing things. His love for motorcycles was a defining aspect of his life. It was not just a hobby; it was a lifestyle that he lived to the fullest. Whether it was fishing with his wife or frying the turkeys with papaw for everyone at Thanksgiving and Christmas, he loved spending time with those he loved and cared about.

Gene was preceded in death by his father, Harold E. Nehls Sr., his mother, Shirley E. Nehls, his wife, Tina L. Nehls, his niece DeLane Garison and his children, Jonathan C. Nehls and Shirley
M. Nehls.

He is survived by his brother, Barry Nehls and wife Derinda, and their son Jeremy; his children Jeanna Rhodes, Harold Nehls III and wife Lydia, and Caleb Nehls and wife Yuka; and 8 grandchildren Bailey, Kaden, Audrie, Lliam, Hezekiah, Maddison, Leslie, Warin, and Powell. Gene’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the memories he created and the knowledge and love he shared with those around him.

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Church located at 5290 Benton Rd in Bossier City, Louisiana. The service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 5th, 2025. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
