Holmwood – Harry James Gaspard, born June 2, 1953 in Gueydan, son of the late Joseph “Jeff” and Mary Grace (Dugas) Gaspard, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at the age of 65.
Harry lived in Holmwood all of his life and retired from JevCon. He was a past member of the Cajun French Music Association. Harry loved fishing, hunting (never missed a bird), playing cards, dancing, and watching westerns. He always enjoyed cooking gumbo’s and making deer sausage for family and friends.
Harry is survived by his wife of 11 years, Darlene (Creppel) Gaspard; daughters, Monica Duplechin (Annette) of Sulphur; Crystal Harrington (Scott) of Holmwood; Lacey Lawson of Bell City; Brandy Kelley of Lake Charles; son, Steven Gaspard (Brittany) of Holmwood; siblings; Lucinda Monceaux; Jo Ann Gaspard; Karen Hay; Beverly Lougon; Terry Gaspard (Wanda); and 10 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. His dog, Lady and horse, Will, also preceded in him death.
A Mass of Christian burial is Monday, December 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bell City. Father John Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in Thornwell Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
Visitation begins Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a Cursillo rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m.
