Harry Lee Lancon, Sr.

Harry Lee Lancon, Sr., 89, was born on October 21, 1927 in Sulphur, LA. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School in 1945.  Following graduation he joined the U S Navy serving his country for 4 years. He returned to Sulphur where he worked and retired from the Olin Corporation after 36 years as a Maintenance Superintendent. Harry was a former co-owner of Westlake-Moss Bluff News, the Vinton News, the Groves Pilot and Harene’s Dress Shop in Westlake. He was an avid photographer and provided all the photography for sporting, livestock, and rodeo events covered by the newspapers. He also served the community by providing wedding photography services for many years. Harry was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5755. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, shrimping and hunting with his sons and daughters. Later in life he enjoyed raising cattle.

Harry is survived by his wife, Nadine Cradeur Lancon of Carlyss; his 3 children, Deborah Ford and husband Ray of Sulphur, Harry Lee Lancon, Jr. and wife Ellen of Westlake, and Paul G. Lancon and wife Rachael of Lake Charles; his sister, Marie Joubert of Sulphur; his 6 grandchildren, Dr. Brian Ford and wife Tracy of Lake Charles, Kimberly Lenhart and husband, John of Leblanc, Tyler Lancon of Lake Charles, Eric Lancon of Austin, TX, Emily Lancon of Lake Charles, and Nicholas VanWinkle and wife Allison of DeQuincy; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Lucille Lancon; his daughter, Gwen Lancon Burguieres; and the mother of his children, Irene G. Lancon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 4-9 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8 A.M. until time of leaving for the church. Pallbearers will be Dr. Brian Ford, Nicholas VanWinkle, John Lenhart, Logan Lenhart, Lance Lenhart and Luke Lenhart.
