Hattie Georgia Hanzlicek Kadlubar

February 6, 1941 — August 18, 2025

Hattie Georgia Hanzlicek Kadlubar, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:26 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025 surrounded by family.

Mrs. Kadlubar was born on February 6, 1941 in West, TX. She was raised in Penelope, TX where she was a 1959 graduate of Penelope High School. While there, she was an accomplished student athlete and one of her greatest achievements was the girls’ basketball team winning the State Championship in 1957!

On April 11, 1964, she was united in marriage to Bernard D. Kadlubar in Penelope. In 1972, Mr. Kadlubar’s career with Sears led their family to Lake Charles, Louisiana to create their home for the remainder of their lives. She built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and service to others. For 47 years, she was self-employed, providing lawn care services with dedication and pride.

She generously volunteered her time at her church and in her children’s schools as she was always eager to lend a hand where needed. Deeply involved in her children's lives, she was a constant presence at school activities for them and her grandchildren. She was a band mom for four years and proudly volunteered to coordinate the distribution and cleaning of all band uniforms.

A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, she served in various ministries, including Eucharistic minister, greeter, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Altar Society member. She hosted multiple luncheons for the McNeese college students and coordinated receptions following many Easter Vigil Masses. Her faith was central to her life. She found peace and strength through her devotion by attending daily mass at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.

Mrs. Kadlubar will always be remembered for being proud of her Czech heritage, her warmth, friendly demeanor, beaming smile, relentless perseverance, not knowing a stranger, the fellowship of Christmas, and her intense love for her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bernard John Kadlubar (Kathryn) of Houston, Daniel Curtis Kadlubar (Tracie) of Lake Charles, and Tina Kadlubar Reggie of Lake Charles; and six grandchildren, Gabby, Ally, Jonah, Sofia, Drew, and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Kadlubar; parents, Hattie and John Hanzlicek; son in law, Paul Peter Reggie; great granddaughter, Amelia Diane Donohue; and siblings, Mary Johnson, Helen Cepak, Estelle Marek, Johnny, George, Herman, Edwin, Leo, and Bennie Hanzlicek.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 9:00 AM and continue until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM with a rosary being recited at 12:00 PM.

The family would like to express our gratitude for the compassionate care received from several Lake Charles Memorial Hospital staff members, Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis, and Harbor Hospice throughout her several year medical journey.

Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net.
