On May 19, 2026, Hayward John Labbe’ Sr passed away at the age of 81 and went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. Mr. Labbe’ was born on November 3, 1944 to the late Joseph Sr. and Marjorie DelaHoussaye Labbe’. At a young age, he moved with his family from Cade, LA to Lake Charles, LA, where he grew up. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1963. He later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served a total of eight years, including service in the Marine Reserves.
He later met and married the love of his life, Marjorie Simien Labbé. Together, God blessed them with three sons, five granddaughters, and one grandson.
Mr. Labbe’ was employed at the Bridgestone/Firestone Rubber Plant from October 1965 until his retirement in 2008, dedicating 43 years of service.
He was an active parent with strong family values who freely gave his time to support his three sons in their many activities, including coaching football and baseball.
His wit and humor were well known. Spending time with family and friends, sharing stories and jokes filled with laughter, was one of the things he cherished most. As a hardworking provider, he was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, and a loyal friend to all who knew him.
Hayward is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Simien Labbé; his son, Jerome David Labbé (Kimberly); daughter-in-law, Janet Labbé; grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth, Breanna Nicole, and Alexandra Desiree Labbé, and Avery Elise, Ryan David Labbe’, and Kennedy Alexis Meaux; brothers, Peter Labbé (Sherril) and Paul Labbé (Valtelene); and sisters, Lou Ann Labbé Nelson (Michael) and Lillie Labbé.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Hayward John Labbé Jr. and Rayward Wayne Labbé; his parents, Joseph Labbé Sr. and Marjorie DelaHoussaye Labbé; his sister, Janie Labbé Fontenot (Darryl); and his brother, Joseph Labbé Jr.
The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, kind words and expressions of support during our time of bereavement.
We extend our special thanks to our pastor, Father Jace Eskind; the staff of Johnson Funeral Home; Michael Bergeron, MD; James Maze, MD; the LCMH doctors, Chemo Bay and Heart of Hospice Care teams who contributed to his care; and to the many family members and friends whose love and support carried us through this difficult time.
