Mrs. Henning passed away in her residence listening to the song, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus,” on Thursday October 27, 2016. She was 92 years old.

Betty Henning was born in Jennings, Louisiana on May 15, 1924. She came to know that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord; so at the age of 10 she accepted the gift of God, placing her trust fully in the finished work of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of her sins.

Betty Henning’s immortal soul, now absent from the body, is present with the Lord. Her immortal spirit returned to God who gave it to her.

Mrs. Henning was a resident of Lake Charles since 1950. She was a housewife, homemaker, friend, and helper of a multitude of people.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Nelson (Puffy) Henning, one son-in-law, Weldon Bowers; and one granddaughter, Heather Bowers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Bowers and Arthell Holton (husband, Philip), all of Lake Charles; four sons, David Henning (wife, Sally) of Ellenberg, Washington, Mark Henning (wife, Sandi), Timothy Henning (wife, Mary), both of Lake Charles, and Stephen Henning (wife, Vicky) of Hecker, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two very special members of the family: Marcia Schexneider and Bernice McCown, as well as many other extended family members.

Her greatest desire was to see her family and friends come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. She was always faithful to her calling of “an encourager”, patient and kind, understanding to all the problems that came her way.

Heaven’s gain has become our loss – but only for a short while; then we will meet again face to face.
