Henry Lee Jackson, 73, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born February 12, 1952, in Kinder, Louisiana, to Martin and Mable Poullard Jackson, Henry grew up in Elton and attended Katie B. Thomas Elementary and High School before later earning his GED.

Known affectionately around town as "the Bicycle Guy," Henry had a friendly spirit that made him well loved wherever he went. One day, while riding past a home in Kinder, he spotted a young woman named Elsie doing laundry outside. He asked if she had a boyfriend, and though her first answer was "no, but I have an older sister," his persistence and charm won her heart. With her parents' blessing, the two began dating, later marrying in Kinder and renewing their vows three months later. Their marriage of 53 years was built on faith, loyalty, and an unshakable bond that carried them through life's challenges and joys.

Henry worked for many years as an Electronic Technician at Fort Polk in Leesville and later for Home Depot in Lake Charles. He eventually retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board, a position he dearly loved. A man of energy and enthusiasm, Henry enjoyed fishing, running, working out, and listening to '70s music and Zydeco. He and Elsie especially loved to dance together, often bringing smiles to everyone around them.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 53 years, Elsie Pitre Jackson; his son, Erik Lee Jackson and wife Elojean; his grandchildren Bryce, Jamin, Asher, and Sarai; friends of the family, Athena Thomas (Matt) and Zaire Greer; his siblings Izora Harris (Darryl), Maudry Tunwar (Raymond), Hazel Jackson, Elray Jackson (Peggy), Jimmy Shallow (Ethel), and Johnny LaVergne (Thelma); his mother-in-law, Mildred Fontenot; and his in-laws Jean Brown, Rosalie Ray (Earl), Leroy Pitre, Robert Pitre (Cynarra), and William Pitre; along with too many nieces, nephews and cousins to list.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Henry Martin Jackson; his parents; his sister, Rose Terry; and his sister-in-law, Bobbie Captain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1021 8th Ave., Lake Charles, with Father Aubrey Guilbeau serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, with a Cursillo Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume Saturday morning from 8:30 AM until departing for the church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and attendants of Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital for their compassionate care during Henry's illness.

Henry will be remembered as a man of steady faith, humor, and love, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness will live on in every life he touched.
