Herman D. Lazare

November 19, 1970 — February 12, 2025

Herman Demetrius Lazare, age 54, departed this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, while vacationing in Manila, Philippines. Herman was born on November 19, 1970, in Lake Charles, LA, to the late Herman and Beverly Lazare Jr.

Herman received Christ early and then became a Sacred Heart Catholic Church member. He was a 1990 graduate of Washington Marion High School, where he was a dedicated member of the marching "Juke Box" band. Following the footsteps of his late grandfather, Sidney "Buck" Johnson, Herman pursued a career as a US Navy Merchant Marine for over a decade, navigating the open waters with courage and commitment. While on his military journey, Herman received many outstanding awards and medals and proudly served in the Iraqi Freedom War while aboard the USNS Tippecanoe Ship. Herman was a true voyager. He traveled to various places around the world, such as Africa, Europe, Spain, the Philippines, and China, to name a few. Herman was indeed a "Veteran of the Seas."

He had the kindest and most generous spirit. He was extremely friendly, often engaging in conversation that led to years of friendship with many people. Many will go on to remember his love for music, singing, and dancing to his favorite zydeco music. Might I add, Herman was light on his feet while dancing. He was an extreme Saints fanatic who enjoyed watching the game on Sundays. Herman also had a love for animals, often enjoying sunny days outside with his dog, Grace.

Herman was a blessed man, dedicated to his family, especially his father, whom he helped care for through the years. Herman expressed excessive love and compassion toward those who knew him.

Herman remained a devoted giver. He often donated to the Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church Youth Ministry, The Mountaineers (Houston, TX), where he would also join in fellowship when in town.

In addition to being a loyal member of the Color Cross Guard, Herman was a true advocate for fighting for unjust acts against veterans. He went on to host his very own YouTube channel, Patriot Call TV.

Herman was a proud father, leaving behind to mourn his passing and cherish his memories his two children, Nathaniel Thibodeaux of Baton Rouge, LA and Faith Ceasar of Dallas, TX; one sister, Pamela (Samantha) Lazare of Houston, TX; and two nephews. He also leaves a godmother, great aunts, cousins, and a host of family and friends.

Herman was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Herman Lazare, Jr., and Beverly Ann Lazare.

Herman was a great confidant and always supported his family and friends. He will forever be missed and never forgotten. We were truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
