Howard Lyon Bourgeois

Hayes – Howard Lyon Bourgeois, born February 20, 1929 in Hayes, LA, son of the late Orelian and Elia Mae Gashette Bourgeois, passed away in his residence on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the age of 91.
Howard worked for Rice Mill in Hayes until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, telling stories, playing trains and loved playing cards.
Howard is survived by his brother, Julius Paul Bourgeois and wife Betty of Iowa; caregiver, Shelia White of Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mable Fletcher, Gertrude Bourgeois, Nelson Bourgeois, Wilford Bourgeois.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m.
We would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Kenneth Leger and staff, Dr. Courville, Dr. Hammett and Dr. Upshaw for all the help they have done over the years.
Due to current restrictions with COVID-19, the gathering will be limited and facial coverings will be required.
