Howard Manuel, born August 24, 1930 in Basile, son of the late Alexon and Marcelene (Deshotel) Manuel, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the comfort of his home at the age of 87.
Howard married Dorothy “Dot” Morgan on February 12, 1955. He was employed with the Louisiana Highway Department and retired in 1984. After he retired, Howard began working at Bayou Wrecker. He was a member of Open Gate Cowboy Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and working in his shop with son-in-law, Larry. Spending time with his grandchildren brought so much joy to him. He loved listening and dancing to Cajun French music.
Survivors are his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy “Dot” Manuel of LeBleu Settlement; daughter, Alberta “Kathy” Fontenot (Larry) of LeBleu Settlement; son, Howard “Bubba” Manuel of Pearland, TX; grandchildren, Tammy Theriot of LeBleu Settlement, Kevin Manuel of Lake Charles; great-grandchildren, Layton Theriot, Olivia & Eris Manuel and numerous nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LeeBay, Arcade, Joseph and Jerome Manuel.
Funeral services are Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa with Rev. Mark Stagg officiating. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery – Lake Charles. Visitation is Monday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the funeral home and will resume Tuesday from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
