Huey Randall Brooks

Iowa - Huey Randall Brooks, born May 17, 1936, in Troy, Alabama, son of the late Opie Agnes (Kelly) Brooks and Jim M. Brooks, passed away in a local care center, Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the age of 82.

Huey graduated from Troy High School in 1954 and Troy State University for one year. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in June 1955 at Chennault in Lake Charles and served until being honorably discharged in June of 1959. During this time, he met and married his dear wife, Nanette (Fontenot) Bullard on June 7, 1958. After several minor jobs, Huey was hired at PPG in 1966 and retired in June of 1998 after 32 years of service. He attended McNeese State University while working and graduated in 1974 with an accounting degree. Huey was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church and served as Treasurer for 14 years. He became a member of Eastridge Baptist Church when 12th Street Baptist and Murray St. Baptist merged.

Huey is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Nanette; children and their spouses, Randall Davon Brooks (Coleen) of Prairieville, LA; Allen Troy Brooks of Lake Charles; Catherine Lynn Flowers (Billy) of Moss Bluff; siblings; Sherrill Don Brooks; Gladys Spivey; Felicia Boutwell; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Herman Edward Brooks; Emma Grace Gardener; Damon Devon Brooks; William “Bud” Brooks daughter-in-law; Milissa “Mitzi” Kay Brooks.

Funeral services are Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home Iowa with Rev. Alan Weishampel officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation begins Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
