Hugh Johnson Sr.

Iowa- Hugh Johnson, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in the Louisiana Veterans Home surrounded by his family.
Hugh was born in Lake Arthur on April 29, 1928 to the late Benjamin and Virginia Trahan Johnson. He served as a Seabee in the U. S. Navy; was a master carpenter and retired from McNeese State University. Active in his community, he was a member of the Lacassine Optimist Club. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and was inducted into the Cajun French Music Hall of Fame. He was an excellent cook, gardener and fisherman and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Hugh recently accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Charles A. Johnson (Mona Faye) of Cypress, TX, Joe Johnson, Jr. of Lake Charles; daughters, Theresa Wills (Bobby) of Lacassine and Kathie Morgan (Pat) of Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; spouse, Thelma Dale Johnson; 2 sons, Dale P. and Ben A. Johnson; siblings, Duet Johnson, Lee Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Dora Benoit, Zora Miller, Mary Spell.
Funeral services will be in Johnson &Brown Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Christian D. Nichles and Blaine St. Germain officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
