Irene Babineaux Trahan, born in Church Point on November 28, 1928, daughter of the late Alvin and Sedia Roger Babineaux, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the age of ninety-five.
Ms. Irene was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa. She enjoyed tending to her garden, cooking & baking, puzzles and collecting snowmen. Most of all, being with her kids and grandchildren gave her so much joy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rixby Trahan; parents; sons, Charles Wayne Trahan, Bobby Paul Trahan, and Lawrence James “Jimmy” Trahan; grandchildren, Saundra “Nikki” Trahan, and Julie Journey.
Survivors are her daughters, Jeanette Landry, Margaret Fontenot (Ronald), and Melissa Mallet (Phil); sister, Joyce Arsement; thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation begins Sunday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., and will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m.
