Iris Childress of Longville, La passed away in her residence on Jan 12, 2025 at the age of 97.
Iris was born in Milliken, Co to Melvin and Annie Caroline (Barnes) Kingham. Iris attended school in Meridian Oklahoma. She lived a big part of her life in Shamrock, Texas and Sweetwater, Oklahoma before moving to Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Spouses Clifford Montgomery and Calvin Childress, a son, Gary Dale, 4 sisters, Beuna Davis, Flossie Ruth Weston, Clara Belle Parsons and Donna Luthy, and 1 brother Raymond Kingham and also a number of Brother in Laws, Sister in Laws, nieces and nephews. Left to cherish her memory are children Larry and wife Lucy Montgomery, Sheri and husband Bo Williamson, Johnny and wife Ann Montgomery, Stepdaughter Sharon and husband Peter Gelfand, and Stepdaughter Carol Offield. Grandchildren Mark, Jason, Jennifer, Gary, Joseph, Kiki, Karissa, Kayla, Lindsey, Cindy, Christy, John, Lane and Brandy. 23 Great Grandchildren and 18 Great Great Grandchildren. 1 brother Dale Kingham and beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
She enjoyed traveling, she traveled to Spain twice, China, Israel, Jerusalem, Greece and was baptized in the Jordan River. She also loved embroidering, gardening, watching the hummingbirds and spending time with her family and she loved her lord.
Special thanks to Brighten Bridge, her caregiver Chassie and nurse Layna, for being so kind and compassionate. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown of Iowa, La. A Celebration of Life will be held June 6, 2025 at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, Texas.
