Fenton – Irvin Joseph “Buddy” Fontenot, Jr., born in Fenton on August 26, 1958, son of Irvin and Phyllis Moseley Fontenot, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of sixty-six.
Buddy was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a lifelong cattle farmer. He worked for G & H Seed in Iowa for over thirty years. An avid deer hunter, he also enjoyed gardening, especially growing all types of peppers and tomatoes.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife, Kathryn “Bussy” Shove Fontenot; mother, Phyllis Moseley Fontenot; children, Erin Fontenot Johnson and fiancé, Bobby Mhire, Katelyn Fontenot Nunez (Beco), and Caleb Fontenot (Paige); siblings, Pam Reed (Kyle), and Jimmy Fontenot (Janet); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Elyse, Ella, Mason, Luke, Landon, Easton, Morgan, Maverick, and Molly Kate; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Ryan, and Bowen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant, Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. There will be no public visitation on Tuesday.
