Iowa – Ivan R. Richard, born on October 18, 1935, son of the late Asan and Nola (Leger) Richard, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the age of 88.
Ivan, was a graduate of Jennings High, and veteran of United States Marine Corp. He worked for Port of Lake Charles until he retired. Ivan was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3006. As a young man, he loved playing softball, golf, and spending time with family. He loved crossword puzzles, playing cards and cooking with friends. He was a proud supporter of the Iowa FFA organization. He dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved treating the grandkids to McDonalds after school. He was a great father, tutor, babysitter, “PawPaw”, and “Pop”.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest Richard, Harry Lee Richard; son-in-law, Erik Millslagle.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Richard; sons, Mitchell Ross Richard, Rex Curran Richard; daughters, Barbara Fox (Marvin), Gena Millslagle Potter (Jon), Nancy Lany (Matt); brothers, Olan Richard, Preston Richard; sisters, Lena Mae Ritchie (Bobby), Anna Lou Fontenot, Jenny LeBlanc (Billy); grandchildren, Keisha, Carolyne, Peter, Candice, Katelyn, Camille, Eloise, Luke, Jack, Hannah, Ethan, Taylor; great grandchildren, Kenzleigh, Joshlyn, Trent, Aria, Xavier, Payton, Patience, Brennen, Harold, and Harley.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, Monday, March 11, 2024, at 2 p.m., Dr. Doug Ezell, officiant. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
The family would like to thank all that helped to care for Ivan the last few years, especially Donna Corbello, Home Instead, Heart of Hospice, and the VA Home of Southwest Louisiana.
