Jack Alcee Sonnier

Jack was born August 15, 1952 to Willrey Adam Sonnier, Sr. and Waver Marie Chaisson Sonnier. His family were members of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. He was a lifelong resident of Sulphur and a graduate of Sulphur High School class of 1971. He joined the U.S. Army National Guard (1972-1978) and received an honorable discharge. He completed the apprenticeship program at Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 106 in Lake Charles. He was a pipe fitter by trade working in several states but mainly in Louisiana and Texas. He held various positions in the pipe fitting field including fitter, foreman, general foreman, planner/scheduler, quality control and warehouse expediter. Jack was also a certified craft instructor for ABC school. He oversaw hydro and pneumatic testing and document control. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. In his retirement he enjoyed helping his brother train thoroughbred race horses. He called them his “kids.” Jack was a music lover and enjoyed attending concerts with his nephew Fred.

Jack was preceded in death by his infant son, John Adam Sonnier; his father & mother; sister, Wilma Sonnier Lopez LeDoux; brothers, Edgar C. Sonnier, Billy J. Sonnier and Marty J. Sonnier. He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Sonnier Vincent and one brother, Willrey Adam Sonnier, Jr.

Visitation will be at Johnson-Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon Sunday at 4 p.m. for family and 5 until 8 p.m. for friends, with a Cursillo Rosary at 6 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church at 602 N. Claiborne Street, Sulphur, La. with Fr. Andrews Kollannoor officiating. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Fr. Andrews for the blessings, love and support he gave Jack during his illness. Also, to Harbor Hospice for the excellent care, love and compassion they extended during his stay at their facility. They made his days!
