Jack Russell Hosea, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2025, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Jack was born in Anderson, South Carolina, to Dan and Willie Bowman Hosea. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Jack lived a full life rooted in family, faith, and simple joys.
Jack was known for his sharp sense of style, his love of the outdoors, and his easy smile. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. A loyal Georgia Bulldogs fan, he proudly carried his Southern roots with him, especially the many ties to family in the Alpharetta, Georgia, area.
Jack first shared life with his beloved wife, Olivia Jean Demarie, who preceded him in death and with whom he raised their children. Years later, he met the second great love of his life, Bobbie Gribble. Their story began when Jack spotted her working at her Merle Norman Cosmetics store in the Prien Lake Mall. Walking right up, he told her she was "the most beautiful woman he had ever seen" and invited her to lunch at Piccadilly. From that moment forward, the two were inseparable, building a marriage full of love, laughter, travel, and gatherings with friends until her passing in 2022.
A hardworking man, Jack built a long career as an Operator at PPG until his retirement, where he was fondly known by coworkers as "Pappy Jack." Away from work, he loved building things with his hands, working around his home, and creating spaces that reflected his care and creativity.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Allison Marie Butler (Jeff); his step-daughter, Linda Mize; his brother, Tommy Hosea; his grandchildren, Taylor Butler, Elliott Butler, Dyllan Hosea, Catlin Hosea, Hayden Hosea, Erica Radde, Erin Baker, and Meredith Massey; his sisters, Patsy Harward and Laverne Hilder; and Clint Graham (Jill). He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Olivia Jean, and his second wife, Bobbie, and his son, Sammy Hosea.
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
