Jack Martin Savoie

Jack Martin Savoie, 79, of Westlake, died unexpectedly at his residence on Friday December 21, 2018.

Jack was raised and educated in Reeves, where he was a 1958 graduate of Reeves High School. He was an outstanding basketball player in high school, having set records that still exist today. Jack furthered his education at SLI and, as a freshman, was a starting guard for their basketball team. In later years, Jack was a very private individual and did not enjoy being the center of attention. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother.

Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Ira Eli and Ida Mae Hendricks Savoie and two sisters, Delores Bankester and Melba Carol Hungerford. Those left to honor his memory are four children, Valerie Lynn Savoie, Metairie, LA; Vanessa Glyne Savoie, Spring Hill, TN; Jack Martin Savoie II, Lake Charles, LA; and Jesse Lyle Savoie, Reeves, LA; and six siblings, Judy Savoie, Houston, TX; Kathy Savoie, Lake Charles, LA; Jim Savoie and wife Ada, LeBlanc, LA; Jerry Savoie, Moss Bluff, LA; Joe Savoie, Westlake, LA; and J.W. “Buddy” Sweat and wife Glenda, Iowa, LA; and numerous grandchildren.

In honoring Jack’s wishes, private graveside services were held under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles.
