Jacob Luke Marcantel

December 26, 1985 — December 3, 2021

Jacob Luke Marcantel passed from this life to his Heavenly home on December 3, 2021, in Lake Charles, LA. He was born in Lake Charles on December 26, 1985, the fifth child of Adolph and Doris Marcantel.

Luke was raised in Iowa, LA, and graduated from Iowa High School class of 2004. He graduated from McNeese State University with a B.A. in History, and a minor in French. He was currently studying online to earn a master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, and four siblings, Jason Marcantel of Lake Charles, Andrea Mount and husband Wesley of Sulphur, Laura Rees and husband Michael of Wasilla, Alaska, and Seth Marcantel of Iowa. Also cherishing his memory are nephews and nieces, Julian Marcantel of Houston, TX, Presley Mount, Brooklynn Mount, and Austin Mount all of Sulphur; Uncle Aaron Richard of Lake Charles, and Aunt Earline Williams of Iowa.

Luke was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adolph and Lucy Marcantel, and Raymond and Bessie Richard. Also, by his Uncle Paul Williams.

Luke was employed at Coushatta Casino for 8 years, and more recently at the Golden Nugget.
He loved playing video games, fly fishing in Alaska, the Saints, the Pelicans, and watching football especially anytime Julian was playing. Luke’s sarcasm and quick wit will be missed by his four siblings, he was the greatest little brother to all of them. We will miss him at the table, a son who brought great pleasure to his parents.

He carried his cross for 10 years, a courageous battle against auto immune anemia, and then vasculitis, another auto immune disease. We praise and thank God for the blessing of his life in ours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 2 p.m. Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Visitation will begin in the church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a rosary recited at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
