James “Bo” Frey was born July 22, 1961, in Sulphur,LA. He was the youngest of 5 children born to James Frey Sr. and Helen Louise (Willenborg) Frey. Bo passed away on February 16, 2026, in the comfort of his home.
The Frey household was always busy, always family around- when the Frey/Poole/Gumm families were together there were 24 first cousins running around! Bo was active in athletics growing up- baseball and football were his favorites.
After graduating from Sulphur High School in 1979, he married his high school sweetheart Terrie Dee Morgan. Although this marriage union did not last forever- Bo and Terrie remained lifelong friends to the end.
Bo worked in the construction industry and traveled the country as a welder. It was said he could weld just about anything!
He was an avid sports fan throughout his life, especially rooting for the LSU Tigers and his beloved New Orleans Saints. One year in New Orleans after a Saints victory, we marched the Plaza on the way out and you could hear Bo’s “Who Dat”!! louder than the huge crowd that was gathered.
While growing up, if there was a game, sport, or activity- Uncle Bo would be close by. He was King of the Grill and a definite instigator at the annual Bottle Rocket wars at Christmas time.
Life was not always easy, choices were made. But in the last couple years, Bo seemed at peace with the world and those around him.
Bo was proceeded in death by his father, James Frey Sr. and by his sister Julie Ann Frey.
He is survived by his mother Helen, sister Deborah, brothers Alan and John (Linda) as well as that high school sweetheart-Terrie; his children: Colby, Kaycie (Seth) and Heather (Orey); seven grandchildren; and two great granddaughters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Jared Gass, Colby Frey, Joshua Frey, Tylan Gass, Tanner Gass and Baylor Gass.
We take solace that he will no longer have to fight the fight on this earth- he loved big- in the best way he knew how.
