James Boice "Jb" Morgan

May 10, 1920 — November 16, 2018

James Boice “JB” Morgan, 98, of Sulphur went to be with his Savior on November 16, 2018 with his wife by his side.  JB was born on May 10, 1920 in Indian Bayou, LA weighing 15 ½ pounds.  He lived 98 years, 6 months and 6 days.  JB graduated from Indian Bayou High School in 1938 and attended and graduated from SLI and LSU.  He retired after 25 years from Cities Service as a welder and in his later years was an instructor of welding and a math teacher at Instruma High in Baton Rouge.  His love for fishing was great and on his off days he worked as a commercial fisherman.  JB was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

JB is survived by his wife of 20 plus years, Claudette Jones Morgan; his children, Gwendolyn Morgan Stafford, Oreda Gay Hogue (Terry), Anna Morgan Glass (Garry) and Charles Morgan; his stepson, Larry Kurth (Pamela); grandchildren and great grandchildren, Robert Riley and children, Levi, Brandon and Courtney, Boice Maddox and his children, Chad, Caleb and Chelsea Maddox, Barney Maddox and his child, Tristan, Teri Riley and her children Nancy and Stormy Gale, David, Morgan, Maggie Chustz, Shawn Kurth (Shannon) and their children, Kaylie and Kendal, Heidi Bellamy (David) and their children, Andrew, Matthew and D.J. and Ryan Kurth (Erica) and their children, Brody and Blake; great great grandchildren, Bek and Zeek Riley, Addison Kurth, Ellianna Stovall and Clayton Beckham; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Dorella Morgan; brothers, Stanley, Lucian and Griffen Morgan; sisters, Olivia Morgan, Leola Morgan McBurnet and baby Morgan; a grandchild, Melissa Riley Acy; and two wives, Ettie Demeritt Morgan and Eulah Saunier Morgan.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11 A.M. in Indian Bayou in Rayne, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1-3 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 3 P.M.

A special thank you to Dr’s Brian Clements and Chris Thompson; Brighton Bridge Hospice – Melinda and the whole team that cared for JB so gently and professionally; Steve Smith, his nephew, who was so faithful coming to visit him every month from Houston; Herman Clavier and Ed Holmes, his McDonald’s coffee drinking buddies; and special friend, Barbara Stump, who visited daily.
