James Claude “Jimmy Red” Granger, 72, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on November 17, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to James Ola Granger and Gertrude Beatrice Granger.
A true cowboy at heart, Jimmy Red enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, and sharing those special moments with his family and friends. His personality shone with kindness, humor, and a genuine caring nature. He was deeply rooted in his faith, family, and community.
Jimmy Red was a dedicated welder by trade, having spent his entire career as a hardworking and skilled craftsman. His strong work ethic and commitment to his craft were known to all who worked with him. Outside of work, Jimmy Red was a compassionate and loving man who cherished his family, friends, and animals. He had a deep love for God and was a devoted member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, where he served as an usher.
Jimmy Red is survived by his children, Wasey Granger (Mica) and Whitney Lacomb (Josh); stepchildren: Misty Pullen (Lorin), Brooke Stetz (Tim) as well as his cherished grandchildren, Brenam and Corbin Granger, Daisyn, Denver, Diesel, Decker, Denim, & Davie Lacomb, Devin Dailey, Preston and Andie Stetz. He is also survived by his siblings: Lynette Granger, Donna Murrell (Val), Tim Granger, and Cyndie Seaford (Stan).
He was preceded in death by his parents James & Gertrude, brother-in-law Charlie Battles, and his wife, Jeanette Granger.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones to celebrate Jimmy Red’s life on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, LA. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur, LA., burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery North, Father Ronald Foshage, M.S. will officiate.
Jimmy Red will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
